Jefferson, OR
The small city of Jefferson, OR, is located in Marion County, east of I-5 along the Santiam River. As part of the Salem metropolitan area, Jefferson covers less than one square mile of land with a population of roughly 3,200 people.
Incorporated in 1870, Jefferson today hosts the annual Mint Harvest Festival and has proclaimed itself the “Mint Capital of the World,” in addition to the “Frog Jumping Capital of Oregon.” The historic Jacob Conser House is located in Jefferson, named for the 19th-century Oregon Trail pioneer who was one of the region’s founders and ran a ferry across the river. This and the Jefferson Methodist Church are both listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
