INDEPENDENCE, OR
The city of Independence, OR, is located in Polk County, on the west bank of the Willamette River along Oregon Route 51. As part of the Salem metropolitan area, Independence covers 2.7 square miles of land with a population of roughly 8,700 people.
The community was founded by pioneers who migrated from Independence, Missouri, and the new Oregon city was incorporated in 1874.
